What is Zoning? How Does Zoning Work?

How can zoning make my house more comfortable?

Are there rooms in your home that never reach a comfortable temperature? If you have a large home you may find that there are rooms or complete floors that are either too hot in the summer or too cold in the winter. A lot of our Akron/Canton clients ask us "How can I keep my whole home comfortable?" One of the ways we can keep the temperature even throughout your home is by installing a zoning system.

What is zoning when it comes to air conditioning and heating in your home?

Zoning is a heating and cooling system that uses dampers to regulate the flow of air through the ductwork of a house. By using dampers, you're able to control the temperature of a large area.

Zoning is a great way to "zone" off sections of your home - giving you control of the different areas of your home. That way you can set your temperature to what is most comfortable to you.

Zoning Systems from Honeywell | Forquer Heating & Air ConditioningHow Can I add a Zoning System to My Home?

There are two ways to add a zoning system to your home. The first is with 2 pieces of equipment - one thermostat for each zone. The second way is with electronic dampers and solid state controls. With this option, you're able to control the heating and cooling in your home with one piece of equipment.

To control the zoning in your home, you can have either a wireless thermostat or a retrofit zoning control. We do a lot with solid state electronics now that offer a single system of control.

If you're building an addition onto your house and you think it's going to spread the system too thin, we can zone electronically with separate duct work from an existing system or we can add a whole new system - allowing you to have a separate furnace and air conditioning for that section.

The nice thing is zoning basically gives you better control or better comfort throughout the whole structure.

A common problem for folks who live out in the country is deciding on which method to heat their homes. Depending on the situation, some types of heating units work much better and while others are less reliable. Price is another factor to consider whether its the price of installing to equipment or the monthly bill. Electric Heating for Your Home Every homeowner should have the ability to use all electric heating sources. The most common is a forced air electric furnace. This type of heating is, as a whole as a more expensive option. Then there is the electric heat pump, which is a bit cheaper than the furnace but overall the fuel used to heat electrical appliances is expensive. This means that your monthly heat bill will likely be very high, especially in those cold Ohio winters. The issue with natural gas is that though it is a cheaper choice, it is not always

If you are a business owner and you are about to rent a new space for that business, it is important to consult with an HVAC professional before to make sure that the heating and cooling equipment can handle the type of business youre opening. A Hair Salon For instance, a man in the middle office of a strip building wanted to open up a hair salon. The space was a thousand square feet. But he called us because he could not cool the space. It was 85 degrees in there because that space was set up for routine office work, and he had seven hair dryers. Now four of those hair dryers put out enough heat to require another ton of air conditioning. Meaning he needed almost double the capacity that he had. So this man did not know that when he took that space. Now his clients are unhappy, and he is unhappy because he is losing customers and he had just paid for a new counter, chairs, mirrors, and now he has to pay for more air. Whereas had he consulted with an HVAC professional about the space
