It may seem counterintuitive, but the truth is this: buyers can find the best deals on new air conditioners (and HVAC services) from late February into late March.

Keep reading and find out why the end of winter is the best time to shop for a new air conditioner:

When Is The Best Time to Buy a New Air Conditioner in Akron/Canton?

The heat island that is known as Akron, OH can be brutal in the summer months. Pavement, brick and concrete draw in the hot summer sun and leave you to retreat to your air conditioner. But what if you don't have an a/c unit to run to?  Now is the time to think ahead for your summer needs.

The end of winter is the best time for you to purchase a new air conditioner! Why?

  • Retailers have a high supply of air conditioning units during the winter months. When it’s not hot out, there’s a low buyer demand for air conditioning units.

  • Because people aren’t thinking about their summer cooling needs during the winter, HVAC technicians have less work on their schedule.

When you have an overabundance of professionals and products, the smart consumer can get the best deals.

By late March into April, there will be enough sunny days that people will start buying AC units again. If you wait until the summer to get an air conditioner, retailers might sell out of units, or you’ll end up paying a higher price. And if you wait to schedule an air conditioning repair or a/c replacement during a heatwave and you’ll have to wait longer for your appointment.

Plan Ahead and Save Big on Air Conditioning

It pays to think ahead. Plan out your air conditioning needs by asking yourself a few questions:

  • How many rooms are you looking to cool?
  • How many air conditioning units do you need to cool your residence or commercial business?
  • Is central air (and heat) an option for your residence or business?

Many people find that they have a hard time cooling a particular part of their house. This is almost always the case with two-story homes when the second story wont keep cool. Often, people think that the solution is to increase the capacity of their current air conditioning unit. However, the issue is not the capacity to cool, but that there is insufficient air flow to your second story. Additionally, running a larger unit or even a second unit can have an adverse side effect for your house and your wallet. What are My Alternative Cooling Options? If your air conditioning unit is the right size for your home, but you still need to cool down either just one room or the whole second floor, youve got options! Air Filters Sometimes, the fix is quick and straightforward such as increasing your air flow. There are multiple ways to help the cold air flow upstairs. One example is using a different air filter. Replacing your filter with one that is less dense will give your unit less air

Why Preventative Maintenance is So Important

A very important question that many homeowners ask is, is it necessary to have my furnace and air conditioning unit looked at even though everything is running fine and they have been for years? The answer is one-hundred percent yes! Preventative maintenance is essential to keep your furnace and air conditioner running as efficiently as possible and as long as possible. Think about your car; would you take a cross-country road trip without checking the oil first? No, even if your car is running great, you still take that preventative measure to ensure your car makes the trip there and back. The same concept applies to your furnace and AC. Often times, people wait until their heating or cooling breaks down before they call in a specialist to look at it. More often than not, this procrastination costs them a lot of money when the whole situation could have been avoided with simple check-ups or filter replacements every now and then. Which is better? Steam or Hot Water Heat? There are many different ways to heat your home. We typically focus on the most wide-spread in our day and age: forced air heating through a duct system. Today were talking about another form of heating and how to maintain those systems: steam and hot water boilers. A lot of the bigger, older homes in the Akron/Canton area were built with steam technology because thats where it all started. Its important to be educated on the type of heating your home has and the maintenance required for that heat source. Steam Heating Here we have a steam boiler [pictured right]. The boilers that were installed in these older homes came equipped with a sight glass so you can see the water level, and a low-water sensing device to maintain the water level. These steam boilers use the water to send steam up through the radiation, and then thats what is used to heat the home. Hot Water Heating After heating with steam, then came hot water heating, or what we
