Why Does HVAC Equipment Size Matter?

One Size Fits All HVAC Equipment?

For many people not in the HVAC industry they don't think too much about the size of their HVAC equipment. It's not uncommon for people to think that furnaces and air conditioners are a one size fits all situation, but that couldn't be further from the truth!

Why Does HVAC Equipment Size Matter?

Properly sized equipment- furnace, air conditioner, and ductwork- are essential to keep your home or business comfortable, keep your energy bills lower, and keep your equipment lasting longer.

Consequences of Wrong Size HVAC Equipment

If your AC or heat is kicking on and off a lot, you can't seem to keep your home at a comfortable, consistent temperature, and/ or if your energy bill is super high, then you might have a sizing issue.

How to Calculate the Right Size HVAC Equipment?

A good HVAC contractor will be able to help you find the proper sizing for the equi0pment in your home or business. This is called a load calculation where we measure the windows, the R-Factor in walls, insulation in the attic, and the size of the home to find the proper size.

Once we know what size equipment to use, we need to ensure that the duct system is the right size too.

For business owners, it is also important to keep in mind that your type of business can really impact the HVAC needs. For example, if your own a tanning salon, your sizing will be vastly different than a traditional office space.
